Here at Get Doc’d, our mission is to shine a light on the incredible documentary stories that deserve a wider audience. We're constantly searching for powerful films, but we know that for filmmakers, the biggest challenge is often finding a pathway to both viewership and fair compensation.
That's why we are beyond excited to share an opportunity that directly addresses this challenge.
The Nonfiction Hotlist, an organization dedicated to creating sustainable pathways for nonfiction storytelling, has just announced a major new partnership with Yahoo Media Group to distribute and promote 20 short documentary films. This isn't just about getting your work seen—it's about getting it seen by millions and getting paid for your art.
What This Partnership Offers Filmmakers
This collaboration is a significant step forward for independent documentary creators. Selected filmmakers will receive a comprehensive package designed to maximize reach and recognition.
Here’s what’s on the table for the 20 chosen films:
Global Distribution: Your film will be distributed across Yahoo’s extensive network of properties, including yahoosports.tv, the Yahoo Sports Network, and Yahoo Finance FAST channels, putting your story in front of a massive, diverse audience.
Fair Compensation: Selected filmmakers will be paid a competitive licensing fee for their work. This initiative values the craft and effort that goes into documentary filmmaking.
Promotional Support: Yahoo will actively amplify your film with dedicated promotional support, including filmmaker interviews, behind-the-scenes content, and in-depth companion articles to give your story the context it deserves.
